UNC-Asheville vs UNC: The Last Thoughts

. Sunday, November 30, 2008

As is the case, everytime we come close to the game it is time for me to do my usual post that I call my "Last Thoughts". (On a side note for anyone that missed my preview for the game you can check it out here) As you know this post is all about what my gut feeling tells me or what I am thinking as the game approaches. It could be about players, or coaches, or the fans, or anything else I can think of regarding the match up. Anything and everything could go down in the "Last Thoughts" as the Bulldogs and Tar Heels get set to play in a game between in state rivals.

First thought: Maybe some tiredness for this squad. I would not be surprised if this team doesn't play as well as they have in the last games. The three games in three days and the flight back to the east coast has to wear on anyone.

Second thought: Tyler is getting better. Head coach Roy Williams says that Hansbrough is still at about 75%. Once he is at 100% watch out people, he is going to be a monster this year, especially with the duo he has helping him out in the paint.

Third thought: Speaking of Hansbrough, it's going to be the first time the fans see him live this year. After having missed the beginning of the season, the Heels fan base will now get to see Hansbrough in the Dean Dome and not just on television. I wonder how huge of a ovation when his name is announced.

Fourth thought: No Kenny. The 7'7" giant Kenny George for the UNC Asheville team is not going to be playing as his career was stopped dead in its tracks when he had to have part of his foot amputated. A big "good luck" to him, as some things are more important than a basketball game.

Last thought: I can look ahead, but not the team. I hope that the Heels can put away this team quickly and the starters can work on the kinks that the trip gave them, but not too much to be tired for next week's match up against Top 10 ranked Michigan State in the ACC/Big10 Challenge.

That's it, the last of the "Last Thoughts" for the welcome back from the islands game, and the first game of Hansbrough in the Dean Dome for this season. With so much energy on this squad I am hoping for a fast start, but am scared that might not happen due to the trip from the west.
