Someone has been charged in the death of Jason Ray

. Tuesday, October 28, 2008

In a post I did a while back I talked about Jason Ray's mom, Charlotte Ray, and how she wished that no one would ever forget her son. I promised to her in this little and humble blog of mine that I, as a Tar Heel, would never do so. Having said that, from the Charlotte Observer comes news of some developments in the case about her son's death.

The article begins with this:

Grand jurors in northern New Jersey have indicted a man in connection with the death of a UNC-Chapel Hill student from Cabarrus County about 18 months ago.

While this will not bring back their son, nothing will, I write this small blog about it, because as I promised I would never forget Jason Ray, a Tar Heel, like me. A young man with everything in front of him struck down so early in his life. No, never will I forget someone who when I watched the video of him made by ESPN inspired me with how much of a man he was.

I live you with the video of a "Ray of Hope", so that you can remember this fine young man as well, as well as the words I said in the first post I ever did about Jason Ray: And while words can not describe the way I feel about this person, this Tar Heel, I want to say "thank you" to Jason, for being the person he was and for showing us the way we should be. And to his mom, Charlotte Ray, let me assure you that Jason will never be forgotten as long as this humble Tar Heel blogger is around!

Unfortunately, this will not bring back what Jason. Glad to see justice served. RIP Jason Ray.
