Notre Dame vs UNC: The Final Thougths

   


With just a bit less than an hour to the Notre Dame and North Carolina game it is time for me at "The Fifth Corner", to give the "Last Thoughts" for this match up. As anyone that follows this site, in this post it is where I give random tidbits about what I think of the game coming up. It is all about on the field and off the field thoughts, maybe about players, maybe about positions, maybe about UNC, maybe about the opponents. So, let's get it going with the "Last Thoughts" on the Irish and the Heels.

First thought: This is the game we been waiting for as fans. Isn't this why we wanted someone like head coach Butch Davis to come to Chapel Hill? This is the big time in football and the Heels are favorite in it.

Second thought: Winning means. Winning this game is going to put the Heels in both polls and settle the matter as whether or not they are here to stay for the 2008 season. While this team isn't ready to enter the top tier of college football, they are ready to show that they belong amongst the post season squads.

Third thought: Playmakers. In order to win this team has to use players such as Tate and Nicks as much as possible, without over doing it. I am sure that coach Davis has the right strategy for this game and he is going to pull out things we haven't seen yet.

Fourth thought: No bad penalties. If the Tar Heels want to win this game they have to at all costs avoid dumb/silly/unneeded penalties. If they can win that battle they should be able to win the game as well.

Last thought: The defense. We know that there is the talent needed to win on the offensive side, but on defense there is plenty of talent as well. If they step it up in this one UNC will come out of it victorious. They have the play makers on defense, they have the talent, they know what to do, if they bring it together, this should be a pleasure to watch.

So, there you have it, my Last Thoughts for the game coming up. Notre Dame wants the respect of being in the polls, UNC wants to remain in them, something is going to have to give, and I think the Heels are going to be able to bring it home when it is all said and done.
