Mediocre week in ACC picks

. Sunday, October 12, 2008

In a very small week for predictions I go 1-1 and thank the odds makers for not putting a line on the Gardner-Webb vs Ga Tech game, as well as the Clemson vs Wake Forest game being early, cause I would have taken the Tigers in that one. I began the week with a 13 and 10 record, with last week being the first time I had gone below .500 this season. So with a 1 win and 1 loss I keep my above .500 record and wait for next week's schedule.

I picked ECU to win by two touchdowns (they were favorite by 61/2 points) against Virginia. UVa not only covered the spread, but won out right by the score of 35 to 20. I think the mix of Virginia getting better and East Carolina losing their winning ways from the first two weeks of the season that made this game go the way it did.

In the other game it was Miami (Fl) and Central Florida, where the Hurricanes were 17 points favorites. I am glad that the spread was this high, because had it been less than 14 I would have gone with Randy Shannanon's squad, and would have lost, since the `Canes won by 6, 20 to 14.

So, 14 and 11 after 25 games gives me a .560 winning percentage, which I find to be pretty good right now. On tap for next week there are six games on tap, including a Thursday night one. All six games are in conference matches, and I have to say they all should be pretty good games. Hopefully, along with being good games to see, they will be good picks for me as I improve on my winning percentage.
