Tomorrow North Carolina will play a very tough game at Kenan Stadium, one that if they win will solidify their stay in the Top 25 and show them as a legitimate team in college football. On the other side they will have a Notre Dame that felt "dished" for not being in the Top 25 last week and wants that ranking just as bad as UNC does. They are both 4 and 1, and both want the respect from the national landscape of the NCAA. So, as we all wait for this game, I was able to steal some time from "The Pulse of the South" and ask him a couple of questions about this game.
A.E.M. This is a tough game for both teams, what do you think we should expect in this match up between the Irish and the Heels?
The Pulse North Carolina are going to see a young man in quarterback Jimmy Clausen, who last year had ups and downs, but this year has been under center for every snap. Clausen has a good core of receivers that he can throw to and they can make things happen. The key here is for the Tar Heels to put pressure on Clausen and that means going up against a good offensive line.
On defense if I had to say what could give the most trouble it would have to be the defensive line, since they are good and UNC's offensive line isn't the greatest. It is going to be priority one for the Tar Heels to make sure they win the battle of the trenches if they want to get out of this one with a victory.Head Coach Butch Davis will need to have the team ready for the Irish

A.E.M. Is this the most important game for both team in a while?
The Pulse Until next week. Kidding aside, I think that this game is going to help the winner a lot. I will even say this, if the game is close, win or lose, it would help both teams. North Carolina winning by 4-5 points at home wouldn't be a bad loss for Notre Dame. Same for UNC losing by a field goal to the Irish wouldn't be a bad loss. The only way that this is going to be bad for either squad is for one team to beat up on the other.
A.E.M. What do you think is the "X" factor in this game?
The Pulse The pre game mentality for each team. Which coaching staff can calm down their team from the hype, while making sure they do not play on pins and needles because they don't want to lose is the team that is going to bring home the win in this game.Greg Little (or whoemever is in the back field) needs to get needed yards against the Irish

A.E.M. What should UNC do in order to win?
The Pulse Put the Irish on their back from the get go. Get the lead and keep it, keep the foot on the pedal from the first whistle to the last snap. The Irish have won, but the Heels are also very good, if coach Davis can get his team in the lead I am sure that he can manage the game and win it.
A.E.M. What should UNC avoid at all cost?
The Pulse Having the Irish get big plays. Even getting 6-7 yards on first down is a no-no. Make them work for each yard they get and make them get into "must" plays, that is when the Carolina defense is at its best. If Clausen has to throw I am sure that the defensive back core will add on to that 12 interceptions they already have.Marvin Austin needs to have another great game tomorrow

A.E.M. In the end who is going to come home with the win?
The Pulse It is going to be UNC in a tight one, I would say 27 to 21 for Carolina. But I also believe it is going to be a very entertaining game to watch, even if it might not be too good for the heart!
And that is it, "The Pulse of the South" chiming in on the game between the Fighting Irish and the Tar Heels, in what I believe, like he does, should be a great game. With about 30 hours from the game I have to say I can not wait for it to begin, and I am sure there is a lot more Tar Heel fans that think the same.
