Bobby Frasor can once again play ball!

. Thursday, July 03, 2008

Monday was a day that a lot of people that are fans of the North Carolina Men's basketball team have been waiting for. Especially one in particular, I would have to imagine. Monday was the day that the one in particular had been waiting for since he went down December 27th, 2007. Monday was the day that Bobby Frasor was cleared to play again, and the day that the whole fan base gave a sign of relief for the senior guard.

As I was reading stories about the young man's return to the full activities associated with playing basketball, I found a quote that shows what kind of maturity Frasor has:

"The expectations, you know they're coming,'' he said. "... We're loaded on paper, and on paper, it looks like this team is going to win a national championship. ... But you don't win games on paper."

When I read this it brought an immense smile to my face because I truly believe that someone with this type of maturity is what this team is going to need to win it all. I think that UNC can easily have two full teams playing, when you have team two on the court, with Frasor running the show, they might not run as fast as when Lawson is on the floor, but they will have someone with the experience and intelligence to do a great job.

And the best part of all of this is that you can definitely see, reading the article, on the News & Observer site, that Frasor wants to be back in the mix of this team.

"What I've really missed is the team aspect of basketball ... five-on-five, playing defense, making an assist, playing in games, telling the other team in pick-up games to just get off the court,'' the rising senior said Tuesday. "That will be the most fun for me."

I have to say that to me, seeing an experienced man coming back and wanting to be back is a mix that is really exciting for me. It's showing me that Frasor might just be able to push the others enough to have the drive and willingness to be even better on the court than they are on paper, and if that were to happen this team could be one for the ages.
